Although holiday periods such as the upcoming Easter break are often a happy time, they can actually
be a distressing period for many people.
South West Hospital and Health Service Regional Adversity Coordinator Gavin Johannesen said
pressures and expectations often could make holiday periods an extremely stressful time.
“Some people may also find themselves alone, leading to feelings of isolation and depression and even
those who spend time with family and friends can experience negative feelings,’’ he said.
“The South West HHS has mental health clinicians available over holiday periods to deal with any
concerns and contact can be made through your local health facility.
“But professional mental health support also is available 24/7 simply by phoning 1300 MH CALL (1300
64 22 55).’’
